Rosemary, The bird on the cover is an American Ouzel (page 29) and often called a "dipper". It was done by Missoula artist Claire Emery. And thanks for the kind words on your blog. Warmly, Charles.
My mistake above, that's a Water Ouzel, often called an American Dipper. Don't know what I was thinking.
